Wrapping Up My Eclipse Internship: A Journey in Open Source 🚀

It's hard to put into words how I feel after finishing my four-month internship as an IoT Developer Evangelist with Eclipse. Unlike any of my previous co-op experiences, this one was truly unique.

Instead of assigning me to work on a backlog of existing products, the Eclipse Foundation gave me the freedom to design three projects from scratch, each showcasing the power of Eclipse technologies. That kind of trust and creative liberty? Absolutely priceless.

A Community Like No Other 🌍💡

Even though most of my work was done solo in my home office, I never felt alone. The Eclipse community is packed with brilliant, supportive individuals who were always willing to share advice, guidance, and encouragement.

Community members from around the world reached out to help me implement Eclipse projects in my demos, and in doing so, they didn’t just expand my technical knowledge—they also became invaluable connections that I’ll carry with me well beyond this internship.

The Power of Open Source 💻✨

My biggest takeaway? Open source is incredibly powerful.

Eclipse projects enabled me to build things I never thought possible. The tools, frameworks, and libraries—all developed by the community, all completely free—speak for themselves. This experience has given me a newfound appreciation for what passionate developers can create when they come together.

Looking Back with Pride 🎉

At the end of the day, I walk away with three fully realized demos that I am genuinely proud of. But even more than that, I leave with an immense sense of gratitude.

A huge thank you to Frédéric Desbiens—your mentorship and guidance grounded me throughout these four months, providing insights that will stay with me for a lifetime. And to the Eclipse Foundation members: thank you for treating me as one of your own.

This wasn’t just an internship—it was an unforgettable experience. Thank you! 🙌
